A middle-aged man identified as Daniel Famous Uyi, alleged serious threats to his life over his dispositions to report his boss, Idris Abubakar's conduct in sponsoring the heinous activities of terrorist groups in Nigeria that have been carrying out various attacks in the country.
Daniel Famous Uyi also alleged that unknown gunmen have beaten his aged mother to death when they attacked her and her house maid in their Benin City residence, saying he has been working as an errand boy to Idris Abubakar, the head of Kwara State miyetti Allah, who are Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and also has a high level political influence in present government and that their relationship was said to have blossom until it turned sour.
Speaking to journalists at their residence in Benin City, Edo State capital, One Mike Obazee, a senior cousin to Daniel Famous Uyi, while giving detailed accounts of what transpired, said that on the 17th of January 2025, he was privy to certain conversations of his boss, Idris Abubakar, while on phone calls and as soon as his boss noticed he was aware of the discussions, he (Idris Abubakar) threatened to deal with him ruthlessly if he (Daniel Famous Uyi) attempted to reveal his conversation to the members of the public, especially to the security agencies.
From the discourse, according to Mike Obazee, it was glaring that Idris Abubakar was chief financier of the deadly terrorist group and apprehensive about the criminal intents of Idris Abubakar and coupled with the high level of insecurity which had pervaded the country without remedy, Daniel Famous Uyi therefore notified his police friends, Inspr Francis, in Benin City.
He added that his cousin, who had the premonition that Idris Abubakar, would be invited for questioning in relation to the sponsorship of the terrorist group, which had caused havoc in the country at recent time, was disappointed to see that Idris Abubakar being a famous man especially in the political circle, as he was presumed to belong to the ruling party, was later told by the police that it was he, Daniel Famous Uyi, that allegedly reported his boss conduct to one of his police friends in Benin City, called Inspr. Francis, serving in the Edo State Police Command, who in turn exposed him to higher authorities in the country through his police friend in Benin.
But embarrassed by his action, Idris Abubakar vowed to trail Daniel to kill for exposing his plans.
To make good his plans of killing Daniel Famous Uyi, on the 6th February2025, some unknown gunmen invaded the Benin City residence of the mother of Daniel Famous Uyi and demanded for his whereabout but disappointed by his non availability in Benin City, the unknown gunmen who met his mother and her house maid, descended on them and were, beaten mercilessly to the extent that Daniel's mother, Mrs Margaret Daniel Uyigue, died.
Mike Obazee further stated that himself, after several calls for police intervention without positive response, went to the police station to report the killing of his cousin's mother and the case was reported.
He noted that the family members who were shocked by the assassination of their matriarch, became frustrated by the ways the case was being handled with levity by the police, especially when it became very dispassionate for Daniel Famous Uyi to be the main target to kill for exposing his boss to the security glare through one of his police friends, Inspr. Francis, who serves in Edo State police command, hence there was need for him to go into hiding.
He emphasised that as at press time, the whereabout of his cousin, Daniel Famous Uyi, remains sketchy, saying whether he had been killed had become an issue, but however appeal for justice in this case.
