UK-based Edo-born social media critic, Albert Obazee has decried the alleged attack and destruction of his home in Benin City, the Edo State capital by thugs allegedly led by the youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Adun Tony Kabaka.
Obazee, known for his outspoken commentary on Edo politics and governance, called for justice and an independent investigation into the incident, which he said led to the destruction of property worth millions of naira.
In a video shared on his social media platform, Obazee described the vicious attack as barbaric, alleging that the attack was a direct response to verbal altercation on social media between he and the APC youth leader, Tony Kabaka.
The dispute between the duo began after Albert posted a video on his social media page alleging that Kabaka had been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the mutilation of the naira.
In response, another social media blogger and APC member, Chris Osa, visited Kabaka at his residence in Benin to verify the claim. Kabaka, however, confirmed that he had been invited and interrogated by the EFCC, effectively validating Obazee's report.
Infuriated by the publicity surrounding his arrest, Kabaka allegedly threatened to ruthlessly deal with Albert, vowing to attack his family home and inflict bodily harm on his parents to 'send a message.'
Less than 48 hours after Kabaka’s threat, a group of armed thugs were said to have reportedly stormed Obazee’s house, breaking windows, ransacking the home, and damaging other home items.
The video was made public on Obazee's social media accounts.
Property worth millions of naira, including electronics, furniture, and other household valuables, were said to have been carted away.
Obazee has vowed to pursue legal action to get justice.
As of press time, no arrests have been made, and investigations are reportedly ongoing.
