Students /Others protest continuous closure of Iguoriakhì College of Agriculture.

There was a mild drama on Tuesday at gates of the Edo state Ministry of Agriculture when students and alumni members of College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi blocked the entrance to the ministry in a protest over continuous closure of their School.

Edo Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Monday Osaigbovo however
dismissed the claims of victimization by the Students and blamed the rector of the college whom he said was being chased by security personnel to be arrested for frustrating Governments efforts to address the contentious issues.
The report is presented from our studious.

Amongst issues contended by the protesters are failure by Governor of the state Mr Godwin Obaseki to fulfill payment of 20 thousand Naira  stipend to the Students which he pledged on the closure of the institution in February and their deployment to some Industrial Farms for training.

Others include outright abandonment of the School by the State Government.
Representatives  of the students, Comrade Esiri Kenneth and

On his part, an Alumni of the Institution,Mr Amos Adodo expressed regrets that about four years he completed his studies,on sponsorship by his firm, he is yet to be issued a certificate.

Edo state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Monday Osaigbovo in his response said the State Government was on top of the situation but that certain officials are frustrating Governments good intention to reform the College for better service, learning and technology transfer

As at the time of this report, the Students have vowed to continue the  agitation until their plight is addressed.
