The management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma in Edo State has vowed action on alleged sexual
harrasment of its student, Itohan Okhihie by the school's Academoc Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chairman, Dr. Monday Igbafe.
Spokesman for the university, Mr. Edward Aihevba, a deputy registrar who disclosed this to journalists said preliminary investigation after the student cried out showed that the embattled lecturer deliberately withheld the girl's answers' script for seven years.
Aihevba explained that Igbafe's action prevented the said student from graduating at the stipulated academics calendar of the varsity.
The spokesman said the student reported the lecturer to the preceeding university management in 2011 during which investigation was launched.
He stated that the now suspended ASUU chair had denied knowledge of the student script, adding that the said script was however found in his office after deligent search.
According to him, "the script was thereafter used to computes the results of the girl...sexual harrasment is despicable in our university system.
"And the report of the investigative panel is now before the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee for appropriate recommendations."
Continuing, the university spokesman however denied witch-hunt allegation by Igbafe.
Aihevba said: "the ongoing projects in our campus are executed by Tertiary Education Trust Funds (TETfund) and ASUU is represented in TETfund.
The embatttled ASUU chair had said: "ask the Vice Chancellor, when did this issue of sexual harassment happened. The issue at stake is an attempt to cow me and the union.
He alleged that the union members were being crucified by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ignacious Onimawo for questioning his illegal award of several contracts and undue promotion of friends and family members without following due process.
