Edo Politics: Why Political gluttons want Obaseki's Removal

Crusaderhotnews

Interest seems to be rising over the choice of Governor Godwin Obaseki Second term bid to remain in power beyond first four years within the political class of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in Edo State with barely a year left.

This had precipitated sprints of divisible elements within the political space. With some honestly clamouring for his return and others allaying fears of defeat and hunger should he return for a second term in office as governor.

Thereby, setting new thoughts for  those who are against his returns and candidacy as party primaries draw ever closer.

A search for his replacement seems to be on the card by those not in the same page with what they described as "undemocratic Policies" by few desperate and greedy lots.

In a recent meeting of leaders across the senatorial district held recently in Benin City by a lager chunks of aggrieved members of the party, who tends to be forming a parallel group pledged allegiance to the national Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who we're reliably informed is unhappy with his successor.

But the allegations suggesting differences between the duo was aptly refuted by the government of Godwin Obaseki calling it a hand work of mischief makers.

But then, things haven't end at that with more speculations rocking the political space of new development and build ups from all quarters.

It was leant that the battle for supremacy had started during the nomination of candidates to represent the party during the national and Houses of Assembly's elections

Arguably, the expectations of the people should have been a case of consolidation and smooth transition plan to another tenure in office by the seating governor. This seems to be far from it.

But for other reasons, some who are never satisfied even when they are offered the best stead still will always look out for more.

Although, it is the nature of man to continue to advance for more and better opportunities of some sort within a cycle of his existence.

However though, if not done moderately, it can become gluttony in nature which can lead to greed in excess.

Presumably, the waves of Argument and counter argument across the political space is spreading at geometric progression over plots to oust the Governor by those who claimed to have been neglected and aggrieved by the Present administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki hits the news stand.

At every vendor stands within the metropolis and in offices, the news is the same.

Obaseki must go! Obaseki can't continue in office!! Obaseki has retired those who gave him a ladder and deviated from the Original plans of his predecessor.

The question begging for answer is that nobody have revealed the "original Plans" to the people. They keep talking about the same thing with no reasonable direction.

Is it Original plans set up to divert funds? Or Original plans to develop the state?

Could it be that the Governor has refused to disburse the state resources to the pockets of thin minds political leaders?

Or do the political bigots  believed that common patrimony of the state meant for projects should be diverted to their pockets?

Does their grievances negate the principal of procurements and awards of contract? Howbeit they are aggressively aggrieved?

One will expect to know the "Original Plans" in due course by those allegedly complaining of being deprived access to public funds and resources

By these presumption, some are of the view that the approaches and policies implored by the Governor, is completely anti democratic and the only way they can become relevant again is to seek his removal through the party's primary election and replace him with a more anticipated flexible administrator.

While others also believed that, the Governor has deviated from the structure of his predecessor thereby creating strange operations. A fall out of that was the results chummed out during the presidential election, according to electoral speculations.

In another believe, they have claimed that "laptops and POS boys from Lagos" are in charge and running prominent government affairs. A situation they claimed have relegated aborigines in the scheme of things.

However, all these have raised unending concerns over the fate of the Governor returning for a second term in office.

According to filers, the division which is now getting clearer and stronger cut across the political divides have loyalists to Obaseki's predecessor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, fully fanning ember of war and threatening fire and bristles over the possibility of the Governor returning for a second tenure.

This distractions by divisiveness of politics is a gate way for opposition party to snatch the party's glory and chances which have the potency of making the ruling party go into extinction

Obviously, some bigwigs of the main opposition party have taken this as an opportunity to stem the tide with some endorsement brewing and thereby living the chance of the party on the edge.

Although, party leaders clamouring to be furnished by the government are not completely wrong considering their affection and role in producing office holders and sustaining the day to day running of the party affairs.

Party men who have contributed to the success of the party during elections must be Carter for to keep the loyalty unhindered.

But they can not be furnished against the priority of the governed who lack basic institutions and empowerment considering the limited resources.

Funding the political godfathers can be absolutely inimical to the people who lacks quality education, pipebone water scheme, assessable roads, good health care centres, power supply and security scheme.

The government must not relent however in total commitment to them and the rule of governance through the application of the state resources that will meet the yawning of the masses.

A Democrat should be able to manage the now and the future of a process no matter how hard it may be.

But in reality the role of any responsive government should be seen to be focused on strengthening various pillar of economic progression to drive a veritable development.

What ever budgets, funds, grants and revenues generated by the government must not be used only to furnish egg head party leaders but to build fortunes and future for its citizenry

Democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. The tripeptide definition of democracy is purely centered on the people and should not be seen as the government of the very greedy few political actors in the society.

It is obvious that the reforms and innovations in governance by Governor Obaseki appears to have taken its toll on some of the Party leaders who had benefitted immensely in the past.

They must realize that times have changed and adjust to the new system of governance, instead of resorting to confronting the Governor whilst planning to take him out by all means without considering the implications to the People, the Party, and the efficacy of his Policies to the society.

Leaders of the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) should be able to resolve whatever disagreement between its members causing mischief, not to destabilise the party and stir crisis similar to what is currently ongoing in other states in the country, notably Rivers, Zamfara, Ogun and Imo States.

Political glutamates and gluttons feeling they are demi gods should concentrate on supporting the government strategy to reposition the state they supported during electioneering campaign in order to achieve dividends of democracy.

They must be in conformity with the Governor's capacity to manage resources which have been channeled to infrastructural development.

Those calling for Governor Obaseki to vacate government house for selfish and personal interests must have a rethink and come to terms with how his administration is spreading projects across the state. How he has combined wisdom and professional prowess in managing the state resources to foster development.

In a recent statement issued by the secretary to the state government Barrister Osarodion Ogie warned against heating the politics with mischievous and unguided statement by some sections of the party members.

The statement noted that those spreading the rumours are out to “distract the government from delivering the dividends of democracy, throw spanner in the works and profit from the resulting crisis".

If a Governor has the capacity to tackle the real challenge the people are contending with, for me it should be a plus to the party, stakeholders and democracy.

One of the policies of Obaseki's administration is carrying out labour transfer. Workers are moved to area of work concentration where they are useful to services. He has ensured that the people keep their jobs during the process.

So therefore, if the government decides to judiciously supervised allocations to the state, it will imply that those fighting him for this reason, are on their own.

A responsible government must ensure that all funds and resources are effectively put to use for the development of the state. This has been most sterling quality of the Governor since he assumed office.

Government at all times should be able to build structures capable of causing development as entrenched in the guidelines of the constitutional social responsibilities and not allowing few out of millions of people to dictate the direction.

Obaseki must remain firm in making decisions that apply to the people of the state and not for few gluttony who barely offer nothing for something but greedy pockets.
