_....upholds the party zoning formula, sues for a better Executive-legislative relationship._
With the 7th Assembly set to be inaugurated, one of the speakership hopefuls from Edo Central, Hon. Frank Okiye has received a boost to his ambition as the Edo North Caucus have endorsed him for the speakership seat. This was a resolution of a stakeholders meeting of various party leaders and chieftains from Edo North Senatorial district held last night at the home of a prominent party chieftain in Auchi.
The meeting which had in attendance six members-elect as well as party leaders and chieftains from the senatorial district was informed by the recent developments in the political scene in the state and at the end of the meeting, members- elect from the zone were mandated to vote for Hon. Frank Okiye and respect the zoning formula as spelt out by the State Executive of the APC.
The caucus reiterated the fact that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is the leader of the party at the National Level, while Governor Godwin Obaseki is the leader of the party at the State level and maintained that they are not in conflict with the governor, and hence will support the decision of the governor and the state executive of the APC in the interest of fairness and equity. They further explained that if the national chairman of the party can mandate members of the National Assembly to vote for the party's candidates at the National Assembly and such directives were adhered to, then they see nothing wrong with the state executive of the APC mandating members of the state Assembly to do same for the party at the State level.
They advised those from the senatorial district who have been castigating the image of the governor and his office to desist from doing so as they never received the same kind of embarrassment or humiliation when they had their own son from Edo North as governor as their comments and actions have the potential of over heating the political atmosphere of the state.
