The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande has on Monday declared Operation-Clean-All-Markets *(OCAM)* in the Local Government Area

This forms part of the Eric Osayande clean environment cum hygiene policy to keep every market and other commercial areas clean and by extension reduce the spread of diseases in the locality

While responding to questions fielded by news men on the spirit behind the programme on Monday at Dumez Road Market, Ward 6, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, the Council Chairman, represented by the Supervisory Councillor for Health and Environment, Hon. Nestor Aimufua said “our commitment to eradicating harmful diseases, keeping our markets clean as well as reducing contaminated food items remains our driving force; we are committed to clean up every market and refuse-riddled area in Ikpoba-Okha to ensure that consumers and traders are able to buy and sell in a healthy environment”

Aimufua further revealed that OCAM is a continuous policy/programme which continue to gulp huge resources from the Council’s coffers

The Council Chairman however frowned at the attitude of the market women upon hearing that residents around the market community continue to dispose their waste inside the market

He urged the market women to be vigilant and ensure that they dump their waste in the appropriate area for ease of evacuation

Dumez Market, Ward 6 is one of the four (4) new markets built by the Osayande-led administration; it is a 250-stall market with borehole and toilet facilities built after many years of neglect by past administrations

Refuse in other markets including but not limited to Egba, Ugbekun and Ekiomuisan has been tipped for evacuation said the Council Boss
