TRAGEDY: Edo state govt. Admonish Residents The Implications of blocking Drainage.

Benin city witnessed an unusual heavy downpour that started in the early hours of Wednesday causing massive floods in parts of the city.

The early hours and heavy downpour which lasted for many hours covered some road like Arosa street off sakpomba, Ekenwan road, Ihama GRA and the Gulf section was not left out.

According to our correspondent Osunde  Osaigbovo Massy report from Galaxy TV Edo state correspondent that,

it was gathered that no life was lost in the heavy downpour which led to the residents of many houses leaving their home to hotel.

Some of victims who spoke said their home is completely destroyed, turned to mud and water is everywhere, stressing that the rain keeps coming and they do not have any choice but to wait for it to stop or share with others.

They called on government to come to their aid.

Reacting to the situation the commissioner for youths and special duties, Hon. Damian lawani who move round the Benin city to monitor the sport assessment said is natural because is the time of rain but what surprises is the lent of hours that the rain has been falling, that is why Edo state Governor Godwin Obaseki called them to go round and report to him.

The commissioner Hon. Damian lawani who went out with his team includes Edo state emergency management SEMA and Edo state Fire service advice residents to stop blocking  the drainage and people should take government property as their own there by maintaining the drainage not always waiting for government.

Some others area visited are; Ekenwan road, Ihama in GRA, Arosa street off sakpomba road, S&T, Tom line, Sailor junction,wire road and Gulf road, most areas in the city were flooded with  some houses almost submerged.
