Arewa Community leaders in Ikpoba-Okha LGA in particular and Edo State in general has paid courtesy call on the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Barr. Osarodion Ogie Esq
The visit which held on Wednesday at the SSG's residence in Benin City, the Edo State capital further swells votes of confidence passed on the Godwin Obaseki-led administration and the Ogie's productive stronghold on Ikpoba-Okha by various groups
Arewa Community is a clan in Northern Nigeria resident in Edo State with robust contributions to the overall development of the State’s religious, political and economic base
Speaking during the call, President General of Arewa Forum, Edo State, and former SA to Gov. Godwin Obaseki, Alh. Sahabi Umar hailed the Obaseki governance style
Speaking further, Umar commended Barr. Osarodion Ogie for joining hands with the current administration to create an enabling environment for their businesses, other endeavours as well as carrying the Arewa Community along in the scheme of things in Edo
He said "the Arewa Community in Edo State are here to appreciate the leadership of Barr. Osarodion Ogie; we are also here to appreciate the good deeds of the government of Edo State led by Mr. Godwin Obaseki; we also here to tell you that the Arewa Community are with you
Speaking further "we are to tell you the Arewa Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area are in support of the leadership style of Barr. Osarodion Ogie; we are here to tell you that the Arewa Community of Edo State are supporting you as a leader in Edo State; we are not betrayals, if Arewa says this is where are, that is where we are"
In his response, the SSG who spoke briefly commended the Arewa Community for the early Wednesday morning honour accorded him and the Edo State Government
Ogie reassured of the State Government's commitment to continue to support productive political, economic and religious ideas presented by the Arewa Community
Ogie said "I want to welcome you to my home; when I looked from upstairs and I saw the number of people, bad people do not come here, only good people come here; I cannot thank you enough, you have supported us since 2007; for eight years you supported us during Oshiomhole's time, you remember; now our brother, Godwin Nogheghase administration, you have been supporting us for the past three years; I have no fear that you will support us for the next five years; it is not in any man's hand, is in God's hands; what God say will be, will be; whatever we have given you as a government, we will continue to give you"
Commending the peaceful disposition of Arewa, Ogie noted "Arewa in Edo State has been very peaceful, we are all like brothers and sisters, let us talk to our young boys and girls to live amongst themselves peacefully"
The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, got a rousing ovation as he walked in half way the visit; as the Arewa Community displayed and chanted 4+4 upon sighting Shaibu
4+4 is a kind of gesture by which supporters of Godwin Obaseki display eight (8) fingers and chant 4+4 in unison signifying Godwin Obaseki's 8-year reign
Shaibu who spoke in Hausa language and later interpreted in english said "and I said the Party slogan is APC "Next Level"; and I also said that if Baba Buhari by himself introduced 4+4 and succeeded in Nigeria, it therefore means that the Edo 4+4 has come to stay"
Speaking further, the Deputy Governor who reaffirmed Ogie's Statewide leadership noted "some persons are saying Barr. Ogie is not leader in Ikpoba-Okha, we do not want to join issues, but Barr. Ogie is not just a leader of Ikpoba-Okha, he is leader of Edo State, eighteen (18) local government, so we will be reducing him (Ogie) if we say he is leader in Ikpoba-Okha"; Shaibu urged the people to regard Ogie as leader of Edo State
