Edo State High court sitting in Benin City on Friday ordered parties in the leadership crisis rocking the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to maintain status quo.
Justice Victor Oviawe gave the order on Friday in a suit marked: B/177os/19 which was brought before it by the State APC Chairman, Anslem Ojezua Esq, his deputy, Kenneth Asekhomhe and the State organizing Secretary of the party, Dr. Aisosa Amadasun and filled through their lawyer, Ken E. Mozia Esq.
The court in the ruling, ordered acting Chairman of the State APC, Col. David Imuse (Rtd) and Secretary, Mr. Lawrence Okah to maintain status quo with regards to the Chairmanship of the party, pending the hearing and determination of motion.
Justice Oviawe also asked Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, National Publicity secretary of APC and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to also maintain status quo.
According to justice Oviawe, “I have carefully considered this application, the affidavit evidence before the court and the legal submissions of counsel to the applicants together with the authorities cited.
“I have come to a determination that this application for order of interim injunction finds merit. I am satisfied that there is a substantial issue to be tried at the hearing.
“An order of interim injunction which is granted upon an ex-parte application is always granted for a short and limited period depending on the gravity and urgency of the situation.
“This application is herby granted as prayed. Accordingly, an order of interim injunction is hereby granted directing that the status quo as at 10/11/19 with regards to the chairmanship of the APC, Edo State chapter be maintained pending the hearing and determination of motion of notice.
“The motion for interlocutory injunction is hereby adjourned to Thursday the 5th day of December, 2019 for hearing and determination,” the court ruled.
Eleven out of 17 State Working Committee (SWC) of the party lastweek purportedly removed Ojezua as the APC chairman and replaced him with Imuse.
