Association of 6-6-19 pensioners in a solidarity rally for Obaseki on Thursday in Benin City.

According to him, his members were disengaged from the state public service on June 6, 2019 and immediately payment of their pension commenced, stressing that “it was a clear departure from age age long tradition.”

He noted that leadership style of the governor has endangered unquantifiable growth and development in all spheres of the state’s economy partucularly in the education sector.

Permit me to note that the transformation in the primary school system through the EDOBEST programme, the revival of technical and vocational education, provision of modern learning infrastructure, the training and retraining of teachers amongst other initiatives which are being emulated by other states in Nigeria will no doubt help to create a formidable human capital for Edo State”, he added.

Wilfred, however, pleaded to Obaseki to upwardly review primary school pensioners’ salary and also consolidate 2014 salary structure with 2016, claiming that they earn less than their counterparts.

He also requested the governor to prevail on Oredo and other councils who have not paid primary school teachers arears to pay, stressing that many councils in the state have paid.
