Oil and Gas Commissioner Warns IPMAN And NUPENG Against Illegal Practice.

Crusaderhotnews

The Edo State commissioner for Minerals, Oil and Gas, Hon. Joseph Ikpea has given a warning notice to the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria(IPMAN) and The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Edo State chapter to desist from all illegal activities which would attract sanctions from Edo State Government and Law enforcement agent in the state.

The commissioner gave this warning during a press briefing in his office in Benin City, while disclosing that the attention of the Edo state  government has been drawn to the fact that the members of the associations had formed a practice of mounting roadblocks on high ways and major roads to collect illicit levies from unsuspecting tanker drivers.

Hon. Ikpea reiterated that the Ministry of Minerals, Oil and Gas is and remains the only ministry in the state in charge of monitoring all petroleum activities in the State, warning that anybody that tries to deprive the state government of the levies due to her would be made to face the long arm of the law as such actions are criminal offenses against the law of Edo State.

The commissioner further warned members of the associations to desist from any kind of inspection to filling stations, as their role were restricted only to parking and loading points for NUPENG members and the management of independent marketers and member welfare on the part of IPMAN.

Hon. Ikpea warned that anyone who contravened the laws of the land would surely face the full wrath of the law, advising them to desist from such activities henceforth.
