Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Anslem Ojezua Esq, has said Comrade Adams Oshiomole lacks the capacity, temperament and moral authority to lead the party as national chairman.
The Chairman of Edo state who is loyal to the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, alleged that the national chairman has been suspended at ward, local and state levels hence he should resign honourably.
The embattled chairman, in a Press Conference on Monday, December 16, claimed to have been attended by all local government chiarmen in the state, said Oshiomole is ‘too controversial’ to lead the party.
“In the light of the foregoing, we have come to the conclusion that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole lacks the capacity, temperament and moral authority to lead this party as national chairman. In any case, having been placed on suspension as member of the party, he has lost the legitimacy to act in any capacity in the party.
“We therefore urge Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to do the honourable thing and resign or be precluded from functioning in office while his suspension subsist”, he added.
Corroborating further on his allegation, Ojezua claimed that meetings held on November 6, by party ward chairmen, Etsako West, Executives members, ward 10 of the same local government had all passed vote of no confidence on Adams Oshiomhole.
He said, “The meeting of the APC Executives of ward 10 in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, held on the 2nd day of November 2019, where a vote of no confidence was passed on Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and he was suspended.
“The meeting of ward chairmen of APC in Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, held on the 6th day of November 2019 affirmed the vote of no confidence and suspension.”
The factional chairman accused Oshiomhole of “single-handedly foisting a group of strangers” on the party without consent of leaders in the state, saying it contravened traditions of politics.
Recall that Oshiomhole had few days ago accused Edo State Government of sponsoring thugs to cause unrest and chaos in the state.
His accusation was sequel to protests and gunshots that greeted a rally organised by factional leadership of the party to formally welcome Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to the APC in the state.
