The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande has flagged-off the Sub Immunization Plus Days (#SIPDs) in the Local Government Area
The flag-off which held on Friday at the Ugbekun Primary Health Centre, Ugbekun Community, Ward 7, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government is aimed at protecting the health of children age 0-59 against childhood diseases as polio, tuberculosis and other health hazards inimical to the overall health of the child through the introduction of two doses of Oral Polio Vaccine (#OPV)
Sensitizing the women on the need to continue to present their children and wards for the exercise, the Local Immunization Officer, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Dr. (Mrs.) Agnes Ogbewi disclosed the benefits of the immunization to the health of the child; she expressed satisfaction at the women's turn out urging them to be the first protectors of their children's health
Dr. Eric Osayande during the flag-off encouraged the women co-operate with the nurses in protecting their children against harmful diseases; promising to continue to put the health of every child in the frontburner; the Council Boss went ahead to declare the exercise open by introducing the OPV on the children who were present at the health centre
The programme is scheduled to officially take off on Saturday 11 January, 2020 and is expected to climax on Tuesday 14 January, 2020
