The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande, has charged functionaries of the National Population Commission (#NPC), Independent National Electiral Commission (#INEC) to do a thorough job in the ongoing EAD Phase 9B Enumeration Area Demarcation of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area
The charge was given during a stakeholders meeting with functionaries deployed to Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area for the exercise on Thursday at the Festival Hall of the Council Secretariat, Idogbo
Admonishing the functionaries, Osayande said “your exercise is a very vital one that you do not need to play with, we still thank God that you are going round to ensure that areas are demarcated and populations are certain, but I am of the opinion that when the population exists and there is no road, no school, no health centre, the people will be in darkness; so I urge you to carry out the most professional job of your career so as to produce very precise demarcation as well as the actual population of the Local Government Area"
Speaking further, the Council Boss said “this is the most thickly populated local government area in Edo State; from INEC records, we have the highest number of registered voters, so ensure that whatever you are going to get will be a mimetic to what INEC have already shown”
In his response, the Edo State Co-ordinator, National Population Commission, Mr. Richard Iloma hailed the Council Chairman for his sterling achievements; Iloma stated “for him to come and personally sit with us today, speaks volume of the kind of leadership he is bringing to run the Local Government”
Assuring the Council Boss of their poise for excellence, the Director, National Population Commission, Edo State, Mr. Ayo Okiei Emmanuel said “you will be proud, Edo State will be proud and Nigerians will be proud, so once more, we say a very big thank you and members of our team”
It is expected that at the end of the EAD Phase 9B Enumeration Area Demarcation exercise, it will only require updating for the organization of future census in the Country
