The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government has enforced the directive of the Edo State Government to the various Councils to relocate markets to schools in their LGAs
Recall that a few days ago, the Obaseki-led administration released a circular directing Council Chairmen to immediately design relocation programme(s) for major markets to be relocated to schools as the State intends to fumigate the markets in the State aimed at eradicating the deadly #CORONAVIRUS now waging a ravaging war against humanity
In a swift reaction, the Osayande-led administration has transmitted the State Government's directive to the various Wards, directing Councillors and other relevant persons in the Ward to take action
Consequently, major markets earlier located at their known places have now been temporarily moved to new sites; the traders have been reminded of the need to continue to maintain precautionary measures of keeping social distance, regular hand-washing and the application of alcohol-based hand sanitizers; the use of face masks, hand gloves have also been reiterated
St. Saviour Market in Ward 5 is now at Enikaro Primary School, Eyaen Market in Ward 4 is now at Eyaen Primary School, whereas Moat Market in Ward 7 has been relocated to Ivbiyeneva Primary School while Ohovbe Market in Ward 3 now holds at Ogbeson and Ikhueniro Primary Schools
In Ward 6, Santana and Dumez Markets have both been relocated to Itohan Girls Grammar School, Oka Market now holds at Idogbo Secondary School, Oregbeni Market in Ward 2 which is suppose to be relocated to Oregbeni and Army Day Primary Schools has been taken over by the Police on the orders of the Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande, due to the market women's uncompliance to the social distance policy
In Ward 4, the popular Aduwawa Market has been relocated to Aduwawa Primary and Secondary Schools, while Uteh Market now holds at Uteh and Ekiuwa Primary Schools and Urora Market at Urora Primary School
The Obaseki-led administration has been applauded by a vast majority of the market women for intensifying the war against the novel COVID-19 saying "despite the hardship we may face, we are encouraged by the State Government's various policies and programmes and will continue to exhibit maximum co-operation to end the pandemic in Edo State"
