Benin City-Edo people have enjoined the All Progressive Congress(APC) candidate in the 2020 gubernatorial election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to halt his governorship ambition to joins with the State Governor, Mr.Godwin Obaseki to move the state forward.
The people gave the advice at Benin City, while reacting to the excellent performance of the People's Governor in the last three and half years.
Mr.Osato Idehen noted,"Governor Obaseki had already placed the state in a strong footing in terms of laudable developmental achievements as desired by the founding fathers of the state. Edo State had lived up to expectations under the leadership of the incumbent Governor. He has governed the state with equity and principle of fair play. I am a civil servant, it is on record that since Governor Obaseki assumed power, the State Government is not owing a dime to workers. Every 26th of every month we get paid. We are not tired of enjoying our Governor. We will vote for him to continue the good work."
In the same vein, Mrs Mary Osamagbe vowed to vote for the People's Governor. Speaking on her decision, she noted that greedy politicians and Agberoes are the people backing Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
"A vote for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is a vote to hand over Edo State back to treasury looters and Agberoes. Never again! I am a trader, I saw real hell during the time of Agberoes in the State. But today, our Governor has changed everything. We are now happy. My husband who is also a bus driver is also enjoying the tax reforms of our Governor. Luckily for us, the majority of Edo people are in support of the continuity of our Governor. Our vote is for Governor Obaseki."
Another Edo resident, Mr.Aliu momodu, berated the 'Simple Agenda' of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. According to him,"We are not interested in his graphic design pictures with propagandist statements in the name of Simple Agenda. Simple what?Governance is not a SIMPLE agenda. Let's Godwin Obaseki continue the SERIOUS work he started till 2024."He however advised Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu not to waste his money on the forthcoming gubernatorial election which is already won by Governor Obaseki.
Speaking further,"We the Edo people are in dire need of the continuity of Governor Obaseki. He is a God-fearing leader, who means well for his people."
"Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu should use his campaign funds to do tangible something with his name in each of the three senatorial districts so that he can have something to campaign in 2024.
"We don't want graphic design pictures with propagandist statements. I mean, we want to see what Ize-Iyamu has done before.Because Obaseki was elected in 2016 because of what he has done before. He was the brains behind the achievements of Adams Oshiomhole. And we have decided to re-elect him to continue the good work. So, Pastor should face the reality on ground."
