Businesses and farming activities can only thrive in a peaceful, secured environment. In as much as we strive hard to attract indigenes and foreigners to invest in Esanland, there is also an urgent need to overhaul the security architecture of the region.
The recent and prolonged insecurity in the nation occassioned by the outbreak of terrorist activities in the land perpetrated by suspected herdsmen and bandits is the major hindrance to the actualization of the Esan homecoming campaign.
It has been observed that despite the erroneous beliefs in witchcraft and the fear of the unknown, security threats and other challenges also contribute to a large extent to the lack of interest in the region by indigenes, foreigners and investors.
Business and farming, the mainstay of the Esan Economy cannot thrive in a state of insecurity and uncertainty. This is why the Esan Youths Organization (EYO) is calling on government at all levels most especially the Edo State Government to focus on the security of lives and properties in all Esan territories most especially the road leading to Esanland.
Information reaching us today is that the Palm plantation at Okhuo axis of the Benin/Auchi road is now a hot spot for kidnapping and armed robbery activities. As at yesterday the 1st day of November 2020, several road users and travellers were said to have been robbed or kidnapped in this particular axis.
There is the need to beef up security in this area via the nation's security organizations as well as look inwards to our vigilante and neighborhood watch including local farmers who knows the terrain better to help in curbing this worrisome trend.
Making Esanland and forest routs safe for travellers and investors is central to the Esan Homecoming Advocacy Campaign currently a trending issue worldwide as spearheaded by the Esan Youths Organization which is the John the Baptist of the bigger project tagged the Esan Economic Revival Plans.
The one full month media campaign running through the month of November, shall feature public lectures, press release, press conference, attendance of Esan Association meetings across Nigeria as well as social media campaign to draw the attention of Esan people across the globe to the development needs of the region.

Nobody, not even the political class is suggesting solutions.
Well, the people might result to self defense.
Esan di'fure!
