BRIEF REMARKS BY THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF OREDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL HON. EBVAREKE JENKINS OSUNDE AT THE LGA INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF GOVERNOR GODWIN NOGHEGHASE OBASEKI AND DEPUTY GOVERNOR PHILIP SHAIBU’S SECOND TERM OF OFFICE ON THURSDAY, 12TH NOVEMBER 2020.

(With Governor Obaseki, Our Future is Brighter, Oredo Is Ready ) My Fellow constituents of Oredo Local Government Area, we are gathered here at the renown Imaguero College Benin-City to celebrate the historic second term inauguration of our nationally distinguished Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and Deputy-Governor Philip Shaibu.

Following the directive of the Governor that all the Local Government Councils were to mark the great event in their various locations to prevent overcrowding at the Ogbe Stadium in the season of ravaging Corona Virus, and to engender a more intimate participation by the people at the grassroots, our Local Government selected this venue ( Imaguero College) as an institution with a long proud history of educational accomplishments.

Today marks the commencement of the second phase in the transformational evolvement of our state as a frontline geo-political entity and an economic powerhouse in Nigeria’s South-South region with vital foundations to occupy a more prominent national place of pride in the early decades of the 21st Century.

The nature of the political agency that Edo voters actualized during the 2020 gubernatorial election was the endearing equivalent of a peaceful constitutional peoples’ revolution as the electorate exhibited an unprecedented determination to shape their own destiny with a vehement rejection of corruptive influences.

And so, despite the missiles of malicious lies, the viciousness and the diabolism that was launched during the campaigns against our Governor by the opposition, the patriotic and sophisticated electorate of Edo State still went ahead and delivered a clear mandate of resounding victory to the Governor and his Deputy for four more years.

The chronicles of History will testify that Oredo voters were unequivocal and unambiguous in passing a massive vote of confidence on Governor Obaseki. Oredo voters did not cast their ballots for political drama and propaganda; Oredo electorate refused to mortgage their conscience and, consequently, reciprocated the remarkable achievements of the Governors’ first tenure.

In all of Oredo twelve electoral Wards, we polled between 70-80 percent in the gubernatorial election. I’m profoundly appreciative with a sense of humble privilege to be able to declare that Oredo people displayed nobility of courage with their nationally acknowledged Governor whose profile is the very embodiment of the pristine philosophy of dedicated and selfless service to the people.

There is no doubt from the speech delivered by the Governor during the just concluded central inaugural ceremony at World-standard Ogbe Stadium in Benin-City ,that Edo people will witness, a more phenomenal and achievement-filled second term of office . Since Governor Obaseki did not fail our people the first time, we can be confidently assured of a brighter future in his second term.

So I can without an iota of hesitation say to the workers and pensioners, to the market women, youths, students and teachers of Oredo , indeed to all strata of our society, that we can be rest assured that we have a leader at Osadebey House whose premier interest and quintessential focus is the welfare of the people. It is therefore with justifiable enthusiasm and the guidance of the Almighty that Oredo Local Government Council and her people heartily congratulate His Excellency Governor Nogheghase Obaseki and Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu on the inauguration of their second term of office.

Oredo people are ready to play their part as Governor Obaseki structures the foundation of a greater Edo State for the present times and for posterity .
