The Obazuwa Community Legal Adviser advised all those who have bought land from Abubakar Haruna and his company to go ask for the refund their money from them, as the company have no land in the community.
Barrister Mathew Edaghese, Legal Adviser to Obazuwa Community has warned Land Grabbers to stay away from Obazuwa Community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
While speaking with newsmen in Benin City, Barrister Edaghese alleged that one Mr. Abubakar Haruna was illegally selling Obazuwa Community land without the approval or consent of the elders in the community.
He said, ”Abubakar Haruna and his Company, Tough Engineering, Properties and Constructions Limited,(TENPROCON Limited), have encroached into Obazuwa Community land and started selling same forcefully and unlawfully to land developers.”
”We have instituted an action against Abubakar Haruna and his company over their trespass on Obazuwa Community land in the court.
According to him, “what they are doing is criminal and lawlessness, hence we have taken them to court at Okada High Court.
”We are aware that the act of trespass is still on going and he and his company is placing advert calling for buyers for the community land.
Abubakar Haruna is a stranger and he is not from Obazuwa Community.
Barr. Edaghese added, ”Obazuwa Community is part of Benin Kingdom, and Royal Palace have be fully informed of the atrocities committed by Abubakar Haruna and his company.
He further warned land developers who are being swindled by the said Abubakar Haruna and his Company, Tough Engineering, Properties and Constructions Limited,(TENPROCON Limited) to stay clear from Obazuwa Community.
Reacting to the allegations, the Solicitor to Abubakar Haruna and Tough Engineering, Properties and Constructions Limited (TENPROCON Limited, Olayinwale Afolabi, said his client bought the said land legally from the community.
”The matter is already in court, we shall meet in court, we will defeat them in court because we have what it will take us to defeat them in court.
"It may interest you to note that, there is an account open in one of the banks where my client paid certain money into for the acquisition of the land. We have the deposit slips and at the appropriate time, we shall know who is lying, whether the land belong to Obazuwa Community or my client," he emphasized.
