For educational purposes, it is the Odionwere that is the head of govt in any Benin community, except it is a dukedom where the Enogie is expected to lead.
The Ohèn is a shrine supervisor that is suppose to advise and avert evil in the land. In other words, the Ohèn is the mouth piece of the gods.
There was never a time in Benin history until recently you hear of an Ohèn ruling over an Odionwere in Benin Kingdom.
The Benin Traditional Council BTC should look into this matter critically, and call the Ohen of Okuoromi to order and BSM members across the world request his immediate suspension for selling lands and demolishing peoples houses.
Furthermore;
Odion = head/senior/leader
Odionwere = the head or leader of a community/clan/village.
Ohen = Priest
Ohen Osa = Church Priest
Ohen ebo = a shrine priest
Ohen oguname = priest of oguname
Ohen ovia = ovia (not the town) priest.
Only some few Ohens (about 5 of them) are Superior to Odionweres in Benin KINGDOM.
A priest is simply an intermediary a deity and the followers/worshippers.
A village can comprise of people who are ardent worshippers of different deity/gods.
In some villages/communities, you will find the olokun worshippers, ovia worshippers, oguname worshippers, christians, muslims etc.
Consequently, a village/community can have more than one priest but, not more than one Odionwere.
OBA GHA TOR KPEEE.............. ISEEEEEE!!!
I am Elder Comrade Curtis Eghosa Ugbo and I just want a better Benin Kingdom cum Edo State cum Nigeria for the masses of the people.
