A Solicitor to Glory Ikponmwonsa, the Youth leader in Ahor community in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area, Edo State, who was maligned and arrested over allegations of kidnapping and land grabbing, Hope Iyare, has identified the recent police onslaught against his client as trump up charges.
Iyare who made the statement to our Correspondent in Benin City over a petition written by one Ovbokhan Edia on issues bothering on land grabbing and kidnapping, said some officers involved in the commando like arrest of his client are now facing likely sanctions following their guard room detentions at the police force headquarters in Abuja.
The Solicitor expressed total satisfaction on the Inspector-General, Deputy Inspector-General and Assistant Inspector-General of Police for the professional handling of the case.
He lamented the position taken by some media Organizations who he claimed were biased and out of sorts in their reports of the incident, saying, they would evaluate and put into consideration the level of damage and act proportional to same in no distance time.
Iyare, however, call for calm, stressing that his client, Glory Ikponmwonsa was released without bail charge on the instruction of the inspector general of Police.
The Solicitor to the Youth leader, said nothing incriminating was found in Ikponmwosa’s house, saying that he was innocent of the trump up allegations.
He itemized the looted to include jewelry, gold chains, four cars, necklaces and over Seven Hundred Thousand Naira from his client's savings.
Meanwhile, the Petitioner, Ovbokhan Edia, is said to have gone undercover on noticing that his petitions premised on falsehood.
The allegations against Glory are completely unfounded and malicious to degenerate a good man whose reign as the Community Chairman has brought absolute peace to the community and the entire neighborhood”, he noted.
Recall that, Nigeria police Operatives at the weekend invaded Glory Ikponmwosa’s home in Benin City on trump up allegations bothering on a petition signed by Ovbokan Edia of being a notorious land grabber, kidnapper among other crimes in the state.
It was learned that the Special Tactical Squad STS who arrived from Abuja with the Benin head of STS, invaded Glory Ikponmwosa’s house and destroyed the property in the house whilst they also catted away with about Eight Hundred Thousand Naira alongside other valuables.
