Hell was let loose in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area in Edo State as suspected assassins on September 6, 2021 invaded the residence of the Late. Alhaji Musa Afegbua.
It was learnt that the suspects allegedly traced Mr. and Mrs. Awawu Eghosa Nelson Agheyisi to Okpella, the ancestral home of Awawu in search of a certain political documents alleged to be in possession of the couples.
It was gathered that the suspected assassins upon arriving the residence of Haija Asana Afegbua in commando-like manners demanded the whereabouts of the couples from Haija Afegbua.
The hoodlums according to multiple sources ransacked the Okpella home of Mrs. Afegbua in search of Awawu, her husband and the said documents without success.
Angered by not finding their targets, including the documents, the suspected assassins were said to have unleashed mayhem on the ageing mother of Awawu, Haija Asana Afegbua), just as the suspects reportedly cut off the left hand of Haija Afegbua.
According to eyewitness, the invasion of Awawu mother's residence in Okpella, has further thrown the family into serious fear and sorrow.
The people it was scooped are now living at the mercy of the hoodlums who are reportedly hell-bent in eliminating Awawu and her husband over the said documents.
A source who craved for anonymity over fear of being killed told our reporter that the suspected numbering about 6 invaded Awawu mother's residence.
According to the source, all plea from Awawu mother's to the assassins that she does not know the whereabouts of her daughter and her husband fell on deaf eyes as the hoodlums gave her the worst beating of her live
"The assassins who threatened to eliminate Awawu and her husband whenever they set their eyes on them, later use a matchet to cut off the left hand of Awawu mother's", the source said.
It would be recalled that the father of Awawu and a former local government council boss, Hon. Musa Afegbua was assassinated on his way to Benin City from Okpella by unknown gunmen in 2017
This is even as the younger brother to the former local government council Chairman, Abdulrasak Afegbua was also assassinated on July 14th, 2020 by yet to be identified gunmen.
Contacted, the Edo State Police Command through the Public Relations Officer, SP. Nwanbuzo Chiidi, confirmed the incident, noting that the command has not arrested anyone in connection with the incident.
As at the time of filing this report, the safety and location of Mrs Afegbua, mother of Awawu remain unknown as her residence in Okpella is complex deserted.
