Call it total restructuring, amendment of 1959 constitution or brand new constitution for the country, it will all be meaningless if nothing is put in place to check or control the current shameless and heartless political class we have in the country.
It is going to appear like nothing has been done because we will continue to get the same fail result.
Very strict measures must therefore be built into the new and or amended constitution to clean out or control the behavior of the current corrupted and heartless political class and attract good, qualified and honest individuals to the country’s political system.
My suggestion is that bribery and corruption should result in the death penalty. This is the only way the country could clean up the corruption in Nigerian politics and bring in good and honest individuals to work for the nation.
Corruption among other things should include but not be limited to giving and receiving of any kind of bribe, inflation of contracts, misuse of public fund and favoritism of any kind by elected and public officers.
Election frauds should also belong to the above category. It also includes but is not limited to rigging of election, planning and participating in election malpractice, political thuggery. All of which should carry the death penalty.
Let us also support the removal of immunity for all elected positions in the country including the President.
An elected person found mismanaging public fund should be treated as a criminal.
