First Lady, Mrs Betsy Obaseki is the wife of the Governor of Edo state under the PDP political party His Excellency Governor Godwin Obaseki. She is a financial expert by profession and as a matter of fact, the Managing Director BOI Investment and Trust Company Ltd, a subsidiary of the Bank of Industry.
She is the Managing Director/CEO, BOI Investment and Trust Company Limited. She served and rose to the position of Assistant General Manager & Head- Strategic Planning in the Bank of Industry Limited.
Before joining BOI, she was a senior Manager & head Businses Development in the Leasing company of Nigeria presently known as LECON Finicial services limited. She had an illustrious working career that saw her through Akintola Williams & co, IMB Securities and international Merchant Bank (Nig) Ltd.
As an Entrepreneur, she established Beeba Ventures Limited, a general merchandise company and grew the company’s operations in volume and earnings by developing a profitable and specialized line of product, involving fabrication of African heritage museum pieces in gold plated miniature sizes.
First lady Mrs Betsy obaseki has been involved in several good causes among which is the Junior Achievement of Nigeria (JAN) – a partnership between
business and education to expose young people to the values of market driven economies as well as the importance of environmental and social issues; and “ladies Aware” – a local non-profit group (NGO), organized to give informal training in the areas of personal grooming and acquisition of valuable feminine skills to as many young Nigerian women, thereby empowering our less privileged young women.
Fisrt Lady Mrs Betsy Obaseki She holds a B.Sc and MSc. in Accounting from the University of Lagos and is an alumnus of the Kellog’s School of Business Executive Management Program, USA.
Mrs Obaseki has been very active in this campaign, meeting with women leaders, market women, Christian women Association and many others in Edo state.
She is indeed a very Good relentless mother to all Edo state children and children all over the country and world at large. Mrs Betsy Obaseki is a kind hearted and God fearing woman very passionate about the girl child and widows and that was the reason she and her husband adopted one hundred widows across the state.
In her quest to ensure that the future of the children of Edo state launched a campaign on Gender based violence in Edo on the 23rd of November 2021 where she organised a training at the DPS event centre in jattu which was graced by political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, non governmental organisations and market women organisations.
in collaboration with what her husband His excellency Governor Godwin Obaseki has said on the 18th of July 2021 that his administration will not tolerate any form of harm or pain inflicted upon any minor or woman in the state by sex violators this goes a long way to show that the Edo state government is solely behind First lady Betsy Obaseki's quest to put an end to Gender based violence as there has been effective stronger Reforms and structure on issues of gender based violence in Edo state.
As a financial expert like her husband, Mrs Obaseki has empowered several market women following her strong believe that empowering the women folk is one major ways of accelerating the growth of the economy.
First lady Mrs Betsy Obaseki is a role model and a woman all other women should emulate very humble, ever smiling and indeed worthy to be called our first lady in Edo state.
