Tackling Human Trafficking: Edo State Task Force Harps On Government's Commitment.

Edo State task force on Human Trafficking says Government is now more turbo-charge than ever in its Commitment to Curbing Human Trafficking and its related offenses in the State given its steady Sensitization of the Public on the ills of Irregular Migration.


The Chairman, Edo State Taskforce against Human Trafficking, Professor Yinka Omorogbe who was addressing Journalists in Benin City, as part of activities lined up to mark this year's World Human Trafficking Day with the theme, "Use and Abuse of Technology", said the government is ready to build on existing capacity in the move against the scourge.


She explained that the Commitment of the State Government through the establishment of the State Taskforce has continued to gain Global recognition, thereby, placing the state as a reference point in the Country.


Itohan Okungbowa, the Secretary, Edo State Taskforce against Human Trafficking, in her remarks said the task force has remained active as an agency in educating society to refrain from the abusive use of technology, stressing that, the global technology upsurge had been identified as a major tool that is perceived to have exposed most victims to danger when used negatively.


While appealing to citizens to avail the task force of relevant information, she noted that the state task force was built on six cardinal pillars, including Investigation, Prosecution, Research, Prevention, advocacy, Reintegration, and Rehabilitation.
