Veteran Football Foundation of Nigeria VFF has appointed former Edo State Governor Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion as the National patron of the club.
In a statement released by the national secretariat Abuja signed by the National Chairman Mr. Godson Uti, said the appointment became necessary following the contributions of Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion to Sports development in Nigeria and his role in forming the Nigerian All Stars International Veteran Football Foundation which has become a household name in all state of the Federation.
"We the National Board of Trustees of the Veterans Football Foundation VFF, have deemed it necessary to appoint His Excellency Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, former Governor of Edo State as patron of national Veterans Football Foundation."
,"This appointment is as a result of his commitments and immense contributions to football development in Nigeria. It is important to say here that Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, was the originator of Veterans Football Competition over a decade ago, today national All Stars football tournament has become a household name in Nigeria."
"Moreso, Edo State being home of Sports in Nigeria have been given the hosting right for the 12th edition of the 2022 National Veteran Cup competition slated for October 2022 in Benin-City."
Meanwhile, President of Edo State All Stars, Comrade Johnbull Edosowan, has commanded members of national Board of Trustees of VFF, for appointing Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion as National patron.
"Edo State All Stars want to use this medium to thank the national secretariat for this great honour. Our Excellency Lucky Igbinedion was the brain behind the formation of this noble body.
I'm so happy over the appointment. You will agree with me that since the formation of the Nigerian Veteran Cup competition a decade ago, Edo State have never hosted the competition, now that we are hosting this year's edition we would do everything within our power to make it the best ever."
Edo state team will be Captained by His Excellency Rt.Hon.Comrade Philip Shaibu, all Ex- Super Eagles players, former Lagos State Governor His Excellency Raji Babatunda Fashola, Austin Eguavoen, Henry Nwosu, Garuba Lawal, Edema Fuludu, Bright Omokaro, among others.
