_*...tasks FG, Nigeria Police to unravel those behind the attack in seven days.*_
The news of the assassination attempt on the life of Apostle Johnson Suleman, his immediate family members and needless killings of six (6) other Nigerians (3 police officers and civilians) remains a bitter pill our Network and Nigerians can't afford to swallow at this stage of our Nation's history. The death of those Nigerians still remain one death too many.
We urge the Federal Government of Nigeria, lead by President Muhammadu Buhari to rise up to the occasion and stem this ugly tides while demanding for a proper investigation to bring those involved to book no matter how highly placed, else Nigerians shall soon begin to see the act as an attack to silence certain religion in the country and the voices of religious leaders who speaks truth to power.
The extra judicial killing exhibited by a trigger happy police officer attached to the Auchi division of Edo state command on the alleged only suspect apprehended, who would have unravel relevant information to bring the perpetrators to book remains a mystery to us.
We want to state categorically that such unprofessional, barbabric and cruel action by the Nigeria police appears very intentional until otherwise proven to Nigerians with superior arguments adequate to convince us.
We call on the IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, to beam his search light on Edo state command and by extention all involved, to unearth the facts in such an ugly unprofessional incident, if Nigerians must believe they are still safe around armed Nigerian police officers. We demand that the outcome of your investigation and identity of culprits made public to Nigerians.
The Network of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria (NOCSON) therefore indicate an unwavering interest on this matter and urge the FG and the NPF to unearth the mystery surrounding this assassination attempt within 7 days as no stone should be left unturned in achieving this.
