Members of Evbomama Community along Sapele Road, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State yesterday protested the release of four persons earlier arraigned in court in Benin City over the murder of one Vivian Frank, who was killed in her home on the 22nd of August,2022.

The  community which took their protest to the Talakawa Parliament in Benin City said the four persons including- Gabriel Daniels, Enohi Campaign, Kingsley Onaiwu,Osadolor John, whose identities were reveled by the footage of CCTV camera were arraigned  on September,22  and hurriedly granted bail on the 7th of November,2022.

Speaking to journalists,Comrade Emmanuel Agbogun, Public Relations Officer of Talakawa Parliament said the death of Vivan Frank,( a mother of three) who was murdered in a cold blood over an alleged land issues must not be swept under the carpet.

He called on the Edo State  government, the chief Judge of the state and ministry of justice to see that justice is served.

According to him,"Some known gunmen on the 22nd of August,2022 came to the house of Vivan  Frank  and murdered her, these people with different issues on the administration of land decided to toe the side of the barrel of the gun and despite the fact that those people were arrested, remanded in prison custody, but on the 7th of November,2022, the High Court 2 in the Edo Edo State Ministry of Justice decided to grant them bail.

"However, those of us from the civil society are worried about the process where by the quick bail application was entertained, moreso, when it is a murderer case which is a capital offence against the state.

"Some of us are worried because the 4 persons- including Gabriel Daniels, Enohi Campaign, Kingsley Onaiwu,Osadolor John have been granted bail. We are worried that the incident where the woman was murdered in the presence of her children was captured by the  CCTV Cameral

"We do not see reasons  as a civil society organization, these people will be granted bail. They were arrested on the 22, September,2022 and granted bail on the 7th of November, we know how tedious it is to file bail application process in court,we know how tedious for you to  secure reliable surety for bail in murder cases, except the persons  enjoy high level of influence from influential people in the society. That is why we, the non state actors have raised concerned to the Ministry of Justice, the Edo State Government and the Chief Judge of the state to investigate the process by which these people were granted bail. It is of note that one of the suspect name is on number 20 among the names of land grabbers published by Edo State government."

Also, speaking  Mrs Julie Esifo, said all they were asking for is that justice should prevail in the matter,as the woman who was killed did not commit any crime and does not deserve to die.

Also,Wilson Osawaru said the Chief Justice of the state should investigate the manner by which those people were granted bail,as the dead also deserves justice. "We are aware that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man,the dead also deserves justice. I want the  Chief Judge of Edo State to investigate the manner these people were granted bail."
