Edo Queens football club of Benin today maintained their impressive outing and unbeaten run in the ongoing Sheroes Cup pre-season tournament by beaten Adamawa Queens 2-0 at the Old Parade Ground Area 10 Abuja in their fourth match of the championship.
The game which was played in the early hours of today attracted a lot of football fans who came to watch the Benin-City based girls. Most of the football pundits who are huge admirer of Edo State government for their physical and financial support of the Girl- Child initiative gave robust support to the Mose Aduku coached side. The players on their part reciprocated the good gesture by putting in a high level performance in the four matches played. The fans were not disappointed coming to watch Edo Queens.
Quick fire five minutes strike by Emem Essien, was all Edo Queens needed to shut the mouth of their opponent before half time. Though the girls from Adamawa State made some dangerous attempts
to equalize, but Edo Queens defence ace Happiness Titus, Efe Osakpolor and Rebecca Ajimuda, were just too hard for the opponent to breakthrough.
Both teams returned to the second half with so much zeal having received some pet talk from the technical bench. But for Edo Queens they came looking hungry for more goals had several shots at the opponents goal but Chioma Alama, former Edo Queens goalkeeper was to prove answers to all dangerous moves made by Edo Queens to score more goals. She was the saviour for her side denying Edo Queens many scoring chances.
Less the few minute to the end of the game the opponent could no longer withstand the scintillating form of Edo Queens attackers when a surprise pass from the middle fleek through two defenders of Adamawa Queens and with a quick run from Oluwatosin she collected the ball with her right foot with a sharp turning, she wasted no time in slotting the ball into the net giving Edo Queens a comfortable two zero lead.
With this results, Edo Queens have played four games winning all and securing 12 points.
