The Benin ethnic nationality in recent years have not had her fair share of our nation’s political largesse, it has been one form of mis- or underrepresentation to another, denying an entire Senatorial District certain political privileges
The Benin nation remains an essential ingredient in today’s Nigeria; the role she played in our journey to nationhood cannot be over-emphasized
That the extremely traditional ethnic nationality have not had a fair in Nigeria’s political lexicography remains a domestic challenge and not national; this must be resolved 2023 going forward
At the level of representation, we have not seen an aggressive and sustained interrelationship between Representatives of Benin extraction both at the Green and Red Chambers with the National Government and except this relationship between our Reps and our national government is established and institutionalized, the Benin ethnic nationality may continue to take the back seat at national discourse
Considering the fact that the Edo State Governor at any point in time may not have the luxury of time to sufficiently follow-up activities, lobbies, recommendations, agreements in Abuja, due to his or her watertight schedule in Edo, there is need to delegate one with the requisite capacity, intellectual disposition and streetwise, particularly to the Senate to safeguard the collective interests of the Benin nation (Edo South)
As we march on 2023, a significant era in our political historicity, it is imperative to look clinically in our choice of whom can secure our goods at the Senate
Matthew Iduoriyekemwen possesses the physical, mental, intellectual and political war chest to stand in the gap between the government and people of Edo South and the federal government and even the international community to ensure that those political and developmental privileges that naturally accrues to Edo South are fully accessed, tapped-in and brought to bear for the restoration of the glory of the Benin nation
Matthew Iduoriyekemwen understands firsthand the ins and outs of Edo South, he is people-oriented, selfless and service-driven; he knows every Benin man, woman, boy or girl by their name and has built sustainable relationship with his people; his presence at the Senate, no doubt stands to redefine the ancient and contemporary needs of the Benins, rediscover her political destiny and reinvigorate the pride of Edo South that has greatly dwindled following political lackadaisicality and insensitivity to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Edo South
