SECURITY: Orhionmwon Liaison Officer briefs security personnel on the needs to ensure safety of lives and properties during and after election

Ahead of February 25th and March 11th elections, the Edo State liaison officer to Orhionmwon local government area Deacon Newman Ugiagbe has met with local security organizations in the area. 



The meeting that was held at the council secretariat have in attendance; Edo State Security Network, National Association of Hunters, Vigilante Group of Nigeria and other local security outfits located in Orhionmwon.



In his address, Deacon Ugiagbe expressly appreciated their selfless efforts in protecting the lives and properties in Orhionmwon. He urged them to redouble their zeal and commitments as the general election draws near, saying election can only take place in an environment where there is peace and tranquility.



The Okogbo-Ukpato born political strategists said, "I cannot thank you enough for your selfless efforts in ensuring crimes and other social vices are reduce to almost nothing in Orhionmwon. I want you to redouble your commitment, because in the next couple of days Nigerians will be faced with a very critical decision in choosing a leader that'll lead the nation in the next four years. As you have been doing before, I admonish you to ensure you join force with other security agencies in giving the best peaceful environment where our people can freely go to their various polling units without fear to cast their votes".


Speaking further, the estwhile Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Community Development announced the government's resolved to place all Edo State Security Network personnel on monthly stipend starting from January, 2023. He also promised that the  government will provide other logistics that will aid the smooth running of their activities.


Responding on behalf of the gallant Officers, the sector commander Ambassador David Ehiarinmwian thanked the state government and the council for calling such an important meeting to discuss the way forward as Orhionmwon security is concern. He said such interface was timely and should be on regular basis to create the avenue to  review and assess their activities.


Ambassador Ehiarinmwian enumerated some of the challenges hindering their activities as lack of operational vehicles/motorbikes, security gadgets and other logistics needed to successfully carried out their operations.


In company of the liaison officer were top Orhionmwon council staffs and political leaders from the area like the Edo State house of assembly deputy speaker, Honourable Roland Asoro, the member representing Orhionmwon East, Honourable Nosayaba Okunbor, Comrade Bright Iyamu, the PDP candidate for Orhionmwon South, Honourable Osazee Osemwengie-Ero, the former commissioner for art, culture and tourism and other PDP stalwarts from Orhionmwon.
