A socio-political group, Edo Patriotic Peoples Assembly (EPPA), yesterday, pledged their support for a credible personality and successor in the person of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie, to take over from the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, in 2024, as his tenure winds down.

Convener of Edo Patriotic Peoples Assembly, Raymond Evbuomwan, in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Benin City, said the choice of Ogie would not only ensure continuity, but also consolidate on developmental trajectories of past administrations of Adams Oshiomhole and the current administration of Godwin Obaseki.

Evbuomwan said: “In view of the manifest developmental trajectories that Edo State has witnessed since 2008 when Oshiomhole served as two terms governor, as well as the current administration of Obaseki, where Ogie served as Chief of Staff, later as Commissioner for Works, and currently the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) since 2016, his impact in the two administrations can be honestly appraised as prolific and populist-oriented.

“In the light of Ogie’s pedigree, we, at an enlarged stakeholders meeting of our assembly, resolved to call on Ogie to give the governorship a shot.

“The good governance strides of the state must be sustained, and such can only be guaranteed by someone who has tenaciously networked with the past and present administration.“

Describing the call for the SSG to vie for the governorship seat in the state as imperative, Evbuomwan said ogie possess a sterling record of achievement and character.
