BENIN CITY- The Enogie of Oghoghobi dukedom in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, His Royal Highness Kingsley Omokaro Omorose, has denied a media report published in one of the national dailies (Vanguard Newspaper) of Friday, June 2 2023, by some faceless and unknown persons, posing as developers, alleging that he (Enogie) and his people, have been terrorising them by extorting them through different means as well as indulging in land grabbing.
The duke said that these people who are purportedly claiming to be members of Developers' Union which does not and never existed in the village, was given as Ayeramen Akeem and Samson Abott, chairman and secretary of the ill-fated union, respectively, fictitiously claimed they acted on behalf of others.
To set the record straight, according to the enogie, ''my village has long have an outstanding land verification committee, saddled with the responsibility to verify land documents in possession of some developers in the village and all the prospective buyers were told to usually come to the palace to revalidate their documents especially the village approval documents issued to that effect, saying many of them who genuinely acquired their lands have complied and still complying.
He further stated that he has never ordered his people to extort land developers by a way of imposing arbitrary levies of any kind, let alone involving land grabbing, insisting that many land owners are in a cordial relationship with him and his people.
The duke maintained that he and his people, being law abiding citizens of this state, have been working within the confines of the regulated laws in the state to key into the people-oriented policies and programmes of the Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki and the Oba of Benin Kingdom, HRM Oba Ewuare 11 CFR, to completely wipe out tout and land grabbers from the state in order to bring sanity towards achieving the desired development, stating he couldn't have acted in contrary.
Enogie Omorose described all the allegations as not only false, fabricated, spurious and lacked merits, but an act by some unscrupulous sycophants, who have no relationship to his village to drag his name to mud and trample on his reputation to attract sympathy before Mr Governor, the Oba of Benin and the general public.
He stressed that the incompetent author described him as His Royal Majesty which is absolutely incorrect instead of his legitimate title as His Royal Highness, maintaining that the Oba is supreme to have that title of HRM and nobody else.
Enogie who reaffirms his unwavering loyalty to Oba Ewuare 11 CFR and pledged to work with the government of Governor Obaseki, to bring peace and development to the kingdom, while cautioning against malicious destruction of one's reputation and advised the public to disregard the libelous media report, hence the people that authored the report are not to be taken seriously as they are retrogressive elements who do not mean well for the state but fighting their personal interest, insisting that his village has enjoyed and still enjoying a close working relationship with the Edo State Government and the palace of the Oba of Benin to take his village to an enviable level in terms of development.
