A Frontline organization has recently reiterated that it is a violation of human rights to ask them to leave their phones at security gates before entering.
This call was made directly to Directorate of the State Services, DSS, Nigeria Police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, following a suspected attempt to cover up illegalities with the circles of the aforementioned security agencies.
In a letter from the organization, SECURITY SITUATION ROOM signed by the global convener, Douglas Ogbankwa Esq, it is against the wills of Nigerians to leave their phones at the gates of the organisations mentioned earlier.
The statement said, "DSS, EFCC and the Nigeria Police should stop the illegal activities.
"Out if the three, the Police is most liberal as some of their facilities do not practice this act.
"This unlawful anomaly violates the rights of citizens to private property and freedom of expression and liberty. It does not happen anywhere else in the world and it is an attempt to cover up illegalities.
"The case of the DSS is even worse as if you cannot call any official of the DSS, you will remain there as far as they want you to, except you have a person that can access an official. This is a very sorry state of affairs as stories are rife of many illegal detentions running into months without court orders", he said.
The convener is using the means to call on the Attorney General of the Federation to read the riot act as the alleged impunity of the organizations is suspected to have reached an Olympian height.
