The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande, on Monday, continued the distribution of market money to market women in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.
Fifty (50) market women in Ogheghe Market in Ward 9 of the Local Government Area benefitted from the Osayande Market Money on Monday.
Osayande has said he will continue to extend financial support to market women in the locality; with the market money, being an initiative of the Osayande-led administration to support Ikpoba-Okha market women in their craft.
The Chairman, represented by his Vice, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, was on ground, to do the distribution on Monday, with a promise to take the initiative to other markets in the local government area.
Recall that, few weeks ago, October 13, precisely, the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman flagged-off the market money programme, during which 100 market women from PZ market, Ward 6 and Okha market, Ward 9, making 50 from each market respectively, benefiting from the scheme.
Addressing the market women on Monday, the Vice Chairman noted, "the market money is an initiative to support your trade; it is not a payback loan, it is not borrowed, it is free of charge from the Council Chairman who has vowed to continue to support your trade and help it grow."
"Recall that during the electioneering campaigns, Osayande promised to continue the initiative which he started in his first term 2018-2021; this is in fulfilment of his promise to market women to help grow your businesses and manage the home front; it is continuous from one market to another, across the local government area; ada ikhueki," the Vice Chairman added.
The women who were obviously excited, expressed appreciation, with rains of prayers and good wishes on the Chairman; they noted that this is a strange action never witnessed in the life of any administration; though shocked, they are grateful and will cherish this gesture for a very long time.
A beneficiary of the programme, Favour Idiakoje, (Iye Eki), said "may your days be long and full of great achievements; may your administration continue to bring about great, uncommon deeds, you will continue to go higher in your chosen career."
Another beneficiary, Ayisat, who went in prayer mood, said, "you shall prosper, you will win, all the days of your life".
The distribution of the Osayande market money on Monday, held at the new market stalls built by the Council Chairman during his first term.
Amongst women who benefitted from the Monday distribution are, Glory Amos, Peace Afiworefon, Vero Ehiozefe, Edith Aighobahi, Roseline Idubor, Adeyemi Oluwatosin, Tina Idahosa; Christian Idowu, Glory Ehima, Sandra Victor, Lovett Omoye, Justina Peter, Evelyn Osazemwinde, Felicia Osaruyi.
Others are Evelyn Aliu, Faith Ebuwa, Osasenaga Omorogbe, Esohe Oduwa, Justina Etiosa, Blessing Ogbonmwan, Esohe Oduwa, Rita Eke, Celestina Osumah, Doreen Atewe, Mercy Omorogbe and a host of others.
Accompanying the Vice Chairman for the distribution was the Councilor, Ward 9, Hon. Yvonne Obazee, Chief Administrative Officer, Pst. Josephine Duze, Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Governor, Hon. Harrison Esemuede, and a host of others.
Osayande has said his administration will pick a market in the coming weeks to visit in the ongoing market money programme.
