Osayande attends harvest thanksgiving of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande, on Sunday, joined the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, at the Church's 2023 adult harvest thanksgiving mass and bazaar, an annual event to give thanks and praise to God for His mercies and compassion through the year.


The event, with the theme: harvest of open heaven, held Sunday 12, November, 2023, at the Church Auditorium, 154, St. Saviour Road, Ihinmwinrin Quarters, Benin City, the Edo State capital, it began at 9:00am prompt.


The Council Chairman, accompanied by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Kingsley Balogban, admonished the Church to continue to propagate the gospel of Christ, noting that "without God, man is but an empty space designed for destruction."


"The Church must remain a role model in the propagation of Christ's gospel, it must also continue to preach peaceful and harmonious living with people of different faiths; we are always very please and feel safer whenever there is increased interreligious dialogue, parley between the Church and other faiths", Osayande noted.


Assuring the Church of his administration's continuous support for its activities, Osayande said he will always be favourably disposed to ideals aimed at promoting peace, decency and discipline amongst residents.


"In my public life, I have always supported proposals that seeks to promote peace, equity, fairness and harmonious coexistence amongst people; I am glad to identify with this Church, and to say that I will always support cause(s) put forward by this Church, others, to promote peace in our communities", the Chairman added.


Torchlighting some of his works across the local government area, Osayande noted that his administration has lived up to expectation, particularly during his first term, that residents should expect greater works in his second term.


"I renovated Oguola College, expanded the dilapidated 3-classroom block to 6 classrooms with toilet, borehole, HM office and staff room, with over 5000 furniture supplied to schools across Ikpoba-Okha, over 15 transformers were donated to power-plagued communities in Ikpoba-Okha".


Stating where he donated transformers, Osayande said, "Ward 8, I donated 3, Nomayo, Okanaruovia and Idogbo; Ward 9, I dropped at Ohoghobi, Iyanomo, I dropped 1 at Otofure in Ologbo, Ward 10; 1 at NITEL Street, Aduwawa, Ward 4, dropped 1 at Ohovbe community, Ward 3, I dropped 2 at Uteh (inside and outside) Ward 1, I can continue to enumerate areas that got transformers in my first term, and I plan to donate more in my second term".


Osayande charged electorates to always consider performance in making choices particularly as the Edo State governorship election draws near, noting that voting out of sentiment does not produce good, quality leaders.


He assured the Church of his availability at all times noting that he is part of the people and his administration will continue to develop policies and programmes aimed at bringing help to the people of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.


The Church's parishioner, Rev. Fr Anselm Okafor thanked the Chairman and his entourage on behalf of the Church, Rev. Okafor assured that the Church will continue to support the Council Chairman and his team in prayers.
