The people of Uromi, in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Monday, assured the People Democratic Party, PDP, leading governorship aspirant, Asue Ighodalo, of their massive support for him to win the forthcoming primaries and the governorship election.
They gave the assurances during his formal presentation to the party leaders and caucus members across the five local government areas which make up the Edo Central Senatorial districts by the senatorial chairman of PDP, Bishop Anthony Okosun.
Speaking on behalf of all the leaders and caucus members, a PDP stalwart and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi, said that Asue Ighodalo, being a successful Ishan son, has all the requisite requirements to take the state to the next level in terms of good governance.
He asserted that it was time for the Esan Land to produce a governor, since Edo North and Edo South senatorial districts, have produced theirs for Sixteen years.
He added that the coming into political foray, by Barr Ighodalo, has further rekindled the lost hope, especially in the area of political equity, justice and fair play to the people.
He described him as a peace maker and unifier, noting that all the delegates in the senatorial district will give him 100% votes to emerge the candidate of the party.
Also, a former senator in the senatorial district, Senator Odion Ogbesia, told the frontline aspirant that those leaders he came to meet at home are politicians who determine, design and promote election victory and political strength for every candidate in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, Asue Ighodalo, told the PDP leaders and caucus members, elders and people at Uromi, that he was at home to formally inform them of his intention to contest the governorship election to bring the expected development to the state.
He added that Edo State is viable state blessed with all the potentials to turn around the fortunes of the people to achieve maximum results in the areas of development.
He maintained that the state had had leaders like late Prof Ambrose Ali, late Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, Comrade Sen. Adams Oshiomhole and presently, Governor Godwin Obaseki, who had brought back the state to it's place of pride as the heart beat of the nation.
He thanked all the supporters who thronged out in their hundreds to endorse him as a consensus candidate of the party.
The legal practitioner, who said he was humbled by the large turn out of supporters, reiterated his government resolve to seek for advice and consult with the people and leaders before taking decisions, just as he had said that job creation for youths, women empowerment, education, health, road construction and agriculture would be his priorities if he wins the primaries and assume office as the executive governor of the state
At Irrua, the administrative headquarters of Esan Central Local Government Area, Asue Ighodalo and his team were received by the PDP leaders led by a two-time senator in the senatorial district, Senator Engr. Clifford Ordia and other party faithful, where he stood on his earlier pledge to the people, just as he promised at Ekpoma, the administrative headquarters of Esan West Local Government Area where he was received by elder Joe Edionwele and other caucus leaders that his government would ensure security of lives and properties in the state
