Gunmen Attack Drinking Spot Kill Scores, Injure Many In Anambra, As Owner Escapes Assassination

AKWA- Gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, about few weeks ago, precisely on the 4th May 2024, invaded and attacked a drinking spot popularly called beer parlour, living scores killed and many injured in a sporadic shooting , just as the owner of the shop, Ugochukwu Mark Onyenso, narrowly escaped being killed in the process.

Recalled that the south eastern states which comprise of Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia and Enonyi States, have recently enmeshed in brutal killings arising from the agitation for a succession for Biafra state, a development which characterised by the arrest and subsequent remanding in prison custody of one of the sponsors, Nnamdi Kanu and the most recent arrest and planned extradiction of Simon Ekpa in Finland 

Speaking with Journalists, a source who was privy to how it happened, said that the attack and subsequent killing of the people was likened to a war, saying as a tricycle rider, he was privileged to experience the sad moment where do many people who were out to enjoy themselves as well as those struggling to meet ends meet for their various families met their untimely death.

He further said that on the fateful day, he had dropped some passengers at the drinking spot and as soon he turned in his tricycle to go back to his base, he started hearing a sound of gunshots by the invaders who boldly declared that they were out to frustrate the owner of the drinking spot whose name was given as Ugochukwu Mark Onyenso for daring their leadership regarding being initiated into IPOB as members especially being an ibo by origin.

The tricycle rider explained that the fierce-looking but masked gunmen came to the area in a commando style and started shooting sporadically demanding to see the owner of the shop, Ugochukwu Mark Onyenso, even directly to the people in the drinking spot and the stray bullets killed both the people enjoying themselves and the passersby.

The source added that it took bravery dispositions of Ugochukwu Mark Onyenso to escape as they said angrily that they would not leave the matter until they actualise their mission to kill him for defying their orders and that he had been perceived to be their enemy since he had refused to join them and that he might likely to expose them by giving information to the military.

He gave the names of those killed as Kenneth Oyekwere, Paul Kalu, Nnmadi Eze, Chizoba Maxwell and Queen Onyenso, among others, stressing those who injured have been rushed to an undisclosed hospitals where they are currently undergoing medical treatment.

The source noted that IPOB activities in Anambra State had become a nightmare to the people especially these their weekly sit-at-home which they enforce every Monday in the state.

The source also maintained that trouble long ago started with Ugochukwu Mark Onyenso when he defied the order of sit-at-home and went ahead to his shop to open for business, insisting that his attitude did not go down well with the leadership of the IPOB especially those loyal to the recently arrested Simon Ekpa, who threatened to initiate him into their group or alternatively, if he fails, they would kill him.

He pointed out that their continued harassment of Ugochukwu Mark Onyenso, especially having threatened him to frustrate his business and even kill him, he had to run for his dear life since the attackers were ready to forcefully recruit everyone into it to fight the federal government, boasting that the police and other security agencies in the state capital, Akwa, cannot unravel the circumstances, saying as at Press time, the whereabout of Ugochukwu Mark Onyenso, remains unknown especially in view of his sister, Queen Onyenso that also killed by the attackers alongside others in a questionable actions.
