Army, Police Declare 6 Community Indigenes, Others, Wanted Over Killing of 17 Soldiers in Delta State

Authorities of the Nigeria Army and the Nigeria Police, Force headquarters, Abuja through the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 headquarters, Benin City, Edo State, have declared 6 Community Indigenes and others, wanted over their alleged involvement in the recent killing of 17 Soldiers, including high ranking officers from the rank of Captain to Major including some youths, who were in peace mission in Okuama- Ewu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Recalled that the 17 Soldiers led by captain and major, were gruesomely killed when they were ambushed on the 14th of March by some hoodlums over oil bunkering crises which erupted in the locality.

An eye witness who spoke about how it happened but refused to disclose his identity, said that there had been lingering feud ensued between some people of Okuama-Ewu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area and Okoloba Community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State over illegal oil bunkering activities in the locality.

The source further said that the ugly development led to the forceful invasion of Okuama-Ewu Community by the military on the 15th March, scouting for those who engaged in the dastardly minded acts against the soldiers.

The source further said that those declared wanted even though they are perceived to be innocent are Jumbo Pikolo, Jefferson Akpororo, Tina Akureje, Florence Imakpo, Ikechukwu Gbajumo Jeff and Victor Pam, among others and were said not to have been involved in the killing but the military still took over the community to the extent that the people including men, women, children, girls and boys ran away from their houses to the bush to hide.

The source noted that the military even arrested a traditional ruler in Okuama-Ewu Community was taken to army headquarters in Abuja for interrogation on the killing.

The source explained that information which later reached the police and the military confirmed that some persons who were fingered had escaped but they still declared the aforementioned innocent Indigenes including Ikechukwu Gbajumo Jeff wanted, a development which made army to invade the community and razed down some of their residences over the 

 killing of the 17 Soldiers who were acting as mediators to settle the feud arising from oil bunkering activities.

The source maintained that the continued laying siege and invasion by the police and the army, elicited fear and threats, especially having become glaring that the police and the military were planning to arrest and prosecute them in a case of treasonable felony they were not directly or indirectly involved and it was on that reason, the alleged suspects escaped to prevent their unlawful arrest and prosecution just as 

the police and army declared them wanted since President Tinubu has given order to both the police and the military to fish out everybody that was involved in direct or indirect killing of the soldiers, saying as at press time no single soul was seen in Okuama-Ewu Community as the military had taken over everywhere to revenge the killing of their patriotic colleagues.

The source affirmed that as at press time, the whereabout of the alleged suspects including Ikechukwu Gbajumo Jeff, remains unknown as the entire area had been gripped with the fear of possible attack on innocent people.
