Group of boys of Amagba Community in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, have threatened to unleash attack and possibly kill a middle-aged man identified as Barry Osagie, over his alleged involvement in homosexual practice also popularly known as bisexuality with homosexual partner, James Osaretin in the locality.
The homosexual partners were caught romancing and attempting to engage in an anal sex when they were caught in the house of the said Barry Osagie last month, precisely on the 30th of May.
Speaking with Crime Reporters to give detail account of what transpired, a youth leader in the area called Biggy, said that they had been suspecting the intimate relationship of the two homosexual partners for too long, saying luck however ran against them as they were abruptly caught in the act.
The youth leader noted that the act of homosexual, also known as gay practice, was a devilish act which negates the traditional norms of Benin Kingdom and the country supreme criminal law, saying whoever engages on it, is considered a demon since it was a sacrilegious for a man to man or woman to woman to be having an anal sex.
Biggy added that when the said Barry Osagie and his partner, James Osaretin were apprehended, the elders of the community strategised to call the police to arrest and prosecute them in the court of competent jurisdiction and before the arrival of the police from the Ugbor Police Station, Barry Osagie escaped to thin air, leaving his partner, James Osaretin to his fate as the police later came to arrest him to the station.
The community leader maintained that the said James Osaretin confessed to the crime, insisting that Barry Osagie lured him into the practice, but saying he ( James Osaretin) has regretted his actions especially in view of the gravity of the penalty involved against the perpetrator of his status.
Biggy assured that the police would soon prepare his charge to enable him face prosecution, while the police in joint effort with his Community elders and people are keeping vigil over the escaped Barry Osagie to enable also be arrested and prosecuted since it was 16yrs jail term for anybody caught doing the practice.
