*_...gets solid assurance of support from women_*

On Tuesday, women street traders in Ugbekun, Iso, Welfare, and environs in Ward 7 of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area and Oka market women in Ward 8 of the LGA got their share of the Osayande market money.

The Osayande-led administration's market money programme is a deliberate policy thrust of the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, aimed at supporting market women, street traders across the LGA to meet market demands and cushion the adverse effect of price hike occasioned by the subsidy removal.

so far, over four thousand (4000) market women, street traders across the LGA have benefited of the direct scheme.

Launched November last year, Osayande, upon taking over the affairs of Council for the second term in September 2023, immediately commenced the programme with Evboriaria and Okha markets in Wards 6 and 9, taking the first shots.

The distribution team, led by the Council's Vice Chairman, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, on Tuesday, visited Ugbekun quarters, where over one hundred and fifty (150) women street traders gathered to pick their share.

Osamuyi urged them to continue to support the policy, programmes of the Osayande-led administration, noting that women and children forms the core of the administration and will continue to be major discourse in Osayande's policy thrust.

"I am here today to distribute Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman's market money to you; it is a way to support your trade and help you grow your business; the Council Chairman understands the pains and hardship now very prevalent in the Country, hence he has said that his administration's market money must go round every market woman in Ikpoba-Okha."

"Chairman has also asked me to tell you to remain strong and that he appreciates your support and will continue to do his best to bring smiles to your face", Osamuyi added.

In Oka market, Ward 7, one hundred (100) market women were in jubilant mood, as they received their share; they sang praise songs and hailed Osayande for identifying with them in these hard times.

Beneficiaries were seen sampling their envelopes, noting that the market money will help to improve their trade.

"We are very happy to receive our money today from the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman; we have been hearing of the Chairman sharing money to markets, we were hoping that soon it will get to our turn, today we are happy to get our own, may God bless Osayande", Gladys Igbineweka, an Oka market beneficiary noted.

"This money will help us a lot to do some things; we are very grateful for this and will cherish it for a long time; this has never been that a local government Chairman will share money to market women across the local government area; I am aware that 4000 women across markets in the local government area have benefited, that is huge; we appreciate the Chairman for his generosity, may God reward him a thousand fold", another beneficiary in Ugbekun Quarters, Stella Abuja, prayed.

Osayande has said markets in Ikpoba-Okha that have not been captured will get their market money in the coming weeks, noting that every market woman will benefit.

Meanwhile, the two newly-commissioned markets by the Osayande-led administration, Egba market and Iyanomo market in Wards 8 and 9 are set to benefit, Chairman has noted.
