Groups to lead protests against Edo Assembly Speaker for refusal to lift suspension of elected Chairmen, despite elapsement

Benin-based socio-political groups, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), concerned individuals, others, are set to lead earthmoving protestation against Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, for his blatant refusal to lift the suspension of elected local government Chairmen in Edo State, despite elapsement. 

The 2-month erroneous suspension of the 18 elected local government Chairmen, occurred December 17, 2024 to elapse February 17, 2025; whereas the suspension has long elapsed since February 17, Speaker Agbebaku has refused to lift the suspension, despite calls from various quarters. 

To further express the displeasure of Edo people and demand from Mr. Speaker the reason(s) for his refusal to lift the kangaroo suspension, notable socio-political groups in Edo, Civil Society Organizations, concerned individuals, others, are set to rally men and materials to the Edo State House of Assembly for a showdown. 

We wish to inform the general public of a planned protest to demand from the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, the immediate lifting of the kangaroo suspension meted on elected local government Chairmen in Edo. 

Date, time, meeting point and other details of the organized protest will be commmunicated in due cause.
