And as Edo people, Nigerians and the rest of the world awaits tomorrow's judgement of the Edo election petitions tribunal, observers have said judgement flowing from the Justice Kpochi-led 3-member tribunal will impact Nigeria's electoral calculations if and only if equity, fairness and justice is upheld.
The tribunal having shown an impartial and unbiased disposition throughout hearing in Benin and by extension Abuja, our hopes are once again rekindled that yes, with the calibre of people that makes up the tribunal, hope lies ahead for future elections, other post-election matters that may find their way to court.
There is a growing agitation for electoral reforms and the independent application of justice in post-election matters in Nigeria, it is believed that the Edo election petitions tribunal has the capacity to set that tone, if it centres its judgement around the compelling documentary evidence before it, confessional statements gathered during hearing and every other compelling factors outrightly related to the matter; that the tribunal will also be saving the soul of the Country and calm frayed nerves by doing justice or be seen to be doing justice to the September 21 Edo guber.
To this end, judgement flowing from the months-long Edo election petitions tribunal which climaxes tomorrow, is largely expected to be fair, credible and justiceable, above all, it is anticipated to capture succinctly, constitutional provisions guiding post-election matters in Nigeria.
We believe that the Edo election petitions tribunal has shown dignity, patriotism and that it has upheld the noble ideas expected of the judiciary throughout the cause of hearing, for which is largely expected to play out in its judgement at the National Judicial Institute, NJI, tomorrow; and that if the much-talked-about electoral reforms and the reset of Nigeria's electoral trajectory will be achieved, depends greatly on the equity, fairness, justice; and compliance to the spirit of the constitutional provisions guiding post-election matters in Nigeria.
Observers have said tomorrow's judgement possesses the capacity to reset Nigeria's electoral firmament if equity, fairness is upheld and constitutional provisions complied with.
