Reports of Okpebholo's Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Isere's involvement in shady financial dealings has made way to the social media.

Isere, now suspended, is said to have illegally used the name of the Edo State Government to raise funds for his proposed Oil and Gas Summit, scheduled to hold in Benin City, the Edo State capital, Thursday 7th August, 2025.

Both the appointee and the said Summit are hereby suspended, and Isere ordered to refund donors' monies, according to the Edo State government.

Financial infractions, shady financial dealings, misappropriation of funds, outright stealing across all levels are alleged to be the hallmark of the Okpebholo-led government—a situation that poses significant doubt on the administration's ability to credibly and prudently manage the Edo's lean financial resources.

Under Obaseki, financial prudence and discipline was one of the driving principles of that administration—Obaseki led Edo on a sound fiscal prudence, which robbed off on appointees, thereby saving huge monies for Edo.

Okpebholo administration's lack of policy, accountability and due process remains a major loophole—causing government officials, like Isere, to comfortably pilfer public funds.

We urge Okpebholo to rise up and provide quality leadership and direction, and save our dear State from the pitfall of financial recklessness and administrative malfeasance—above all, he must lead by example.
