A young lady, named Ruth Otabor, of Edo State, has reportedly died after being crushed by Dangote Group-owned truck, Wednesday August 20, 2025—Otabor, until her death, was a student of the Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State and younger sister to BBNaija Season 7 Winner, Phina.
The incident has generated significant reactions on the social media since it happened—with reports of the Dangote Group proposing flying her to India for intensive medical care.
She is said to have died 9.00am on Sunday morning, following complications from the incident, as one of her legs is said to have been amputated, with a possible amputation of the other leg being speculated.
Otabor had been admitted at the Irrua Teaching Hospital, from where she was recently airlifted to the Lagos Lagoon Hospital.
Otabor's unfortunate death is expected to redefine and reorganize the trucking business, particularly within the Dangote Group—having been accused of deploying young, reckless, untrained, inexperienced and unlicensed drivers on Nigerian roads, leading to countless loss of innocent Nigerian lives.
Otabor, a single mother of three will be sorely missed by her kids and partner, Daniel Adebo, who has made frantic efforts to see her recuperate.
We commiserate with the family of Ruth Otabor as we ask the Almighty God to grant them the fortitude to bear this unsolicited loss of their dear sister—we strongly call on the Dangote Group to immediately begin the process of shouldering the responsibilities of the kids for the rest of their natural life.
Rest on, Sister Ruth.
