_...governor didn't know what he signed_
By Gidigba Group
News of revocation of PRESCO's land by the Okpebholo-led government shaked the social media yesterday—the action, for which the Edo State government has now dissociated itself from, was greeted with wide criticisms by members of the public.
One principal priority of government is to build enabling environment for local and foreign investments to thrive—in Edo however, the reverse has been the case: there has been deliberate attempts by the Okpebholo-led government to dismantle investments in Edo, all in a guise of fighting Obaseki.
Recently, we have seen government men and sympathizers wage war on foreign facilities in the State—a clinical example is the attack on MOWAA by government-backed thugs, who harassed and intimidated foreigners assembled in Benin for cultural tourism—that matter has become of international concern and is dragging the State significantly backward.
The PRESCO case and the subsequent sack of the EDOGIS Director, Ikpasaja, is a clear case of a government's lack of understanding of administrative process—how does a governor put pen to paper without reading through and understanding the document?
Let's assume the governor doesn't know how to read, elements around him could have helped him read and guide him through the process, before indulging his pen—could it be that even those around him can't read?
We have asked Okpebholo to employ Esan linguists to help him interpret English in his local Esan dialect, having shown proportionate deficiency in the reading and understanding of English, the need to hire an Esan linguist(s) cannot now be overemphasized—that a governor signed off a document without reading, knowing what he signed is unheard of.
We congratulate PRESCO for this victory—an establishment that has traded for more than 40 years, breaking significant economic grounds and reputation across the Country, particularly in Edo, nearly got destroyed following an individual's recklessness.
Again, we urge Okpebholo to engage the services of Esan linguists to help decode English in Esan language, perhaps he will understand better when documents are presented in Esan language.
For those who celebrated and justified the inefficiency of the Okpebholo-led government following the release of revocation of PRESCO land yesterday, regardless of whatever reason you did it viz: blind followership, favour seeking, hate for Obaseki—we pray God to help you heal in this unsolicited bitterness brought on yourself.
