*...reaffirms commitment to improving power supply to Ndi Anambra*

First Power Electricity Distribution Company Limited, at the weekend, held a high-level engagement with community leaders and other stakeholders in Anambra South Senatorial District, reaffirming the firm's commitment to improving electricity supply across the State.

The meeting, which was held at Ukpor at the invitation of the Senator representing Anambra South, Senator Emma Nwachukwu, brought together Presidents-General of communities and representatives of all Local Government Areas within the senatorial district to deliberate on sustainable solutions to the area’s power supply challenges.

Speaking at the meeting, the Managing Director of First Power, Mr. Okechukwu Okafor, who led the company’s management team, outlined concrete steps being taken to enhance electricity delivery in the district and across the State.

Okafor reaffirmed FirstPower's alignment with the vision of the Anambra State Governor to drive development through the provision of adequate and reliable electricity to all sectors of the economy, restating the firm's role as a key partner in the State’s socio-economic transformation.

He assured the stakeholders that power supply would significantly improve upon the commissioning of the Umuchu Transmission 2 – 60MVA facility, which is expected to strengthen capacity and stability across the network.

Mr. Okafor also appealed for the cooperation and support of host communities and other stakeholders in the reactivation of vandalised PIP-funded injection substations in Ukpor and Ekwulobia, noting that these facilities are critical to effective evacuation of power from the new transmission yard.

He emphasised that the sustainability of improved power supply is dependent on responsible energy consumption and prompt payment for electricity delivered, stressing that FirstPower remains committed to transparent engagement while addressing the peculiar distribution challenges in the affected areas.

The FirstPower delegation included the Chief Technical Officer, Engr. Egbujor; Chief Commercial Officer, Mrs. Nnena Obi; Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Ekeopara; Head of Operations, Engr. Uba; and the District Business Managers for Nnewi and Ekwulobia.

In his remarks, Senator Emma Nwachukwu explained that the engagement was convened as part of his desire to improve living standards and fast-track industrialisation across communities in Anambra South.

He called for collective responsibility and cooperation among all stakeholders to achieve reliable electricity supply as a catalyst for economic growth.

Also speaking at the event, the Assistant General Manager of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr. Okonkwo, pledged sustained support and close collaboration with FirstPower to ensure that the aspirations of the Senator and the people of the district are realised.

The engagement also provided a platform for the communities to highlight their specific electricity challenges, which the Managing Director assured would be carefully reviewed and addressed through practical, phased interventions.

They also pledged to cooperate fully with FirstPower to improve electricity supply in the region.
