Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State have secured the support of a Rubber Company, Rubber Estates Nigeria limited, to build and equip a Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre for the use of students in the council area.
The cheque for the amount was presented by the company's representative, Mr Oransanye James Valentine, to the Chairman of the Council, Comr Destiny Oghayerio Enabulele, on Monday at the Council Secretariat at Iguobazuwa.
While presenting the cheque, Oransanye said the company is willing to do anything to support the Council, not only in the area of education, but also any aspect that would be beneficial to the youths and children of the area.
In his response, the Council boss who appeared elated with the support, urged other companies and individuals to support the Council on its quest to have its own CBT centre.
He said the need to have a centre in the local government became necessary in order to avoid students of the Council area traveling far for their JAMB examinations.
Enabulele stated further that the need to solicit support from individuals and corporate organisations was because the Council alone cannot shoulder the responsibility.
According to him, “We need to save our children the risk of constantly traveling to the city centre to take their JAMB examinations, moreover, it will also bring development to the Council if we have a centre here.
“It will interest you to know that because we have other responsibilities to cater for as a Council, we had to solicit for support. The Rubber Estate is the first company that have yielded to our appeal.
“While we appreciate them for the support, we seized the opportunity to appeal to others to find the need to support us achieve this laudable project.”
