Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande has commissioned Ogbekpen Primary School; a newly-built school by the Osayande-led administration to educate children and wards of Ogbekpen Community
Meanwhile, Dr. Eric Osayande has earlier supplied two hundred and fifty (250) double seater chairs upon completion of the project January this year
The school is now set for academic activities with the deployment of teachers and registration of pupils
The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government has communicated the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on the readiness of the school for academic activities and subsequent deployment of teachers
While cutting the tape on Thursday in the community, the Commissioner for Education, Edo State, Barr. Jimoh Ijegbai who was visibly pleased expressed satisfaction
Barr. Ijegbai who charged other LGAs to think in the same direction stated “I have confidence in Dr. Eric Osayande’s administration; and this is another huge feat in the life of this administration; it is highly commendable especially knowing that this school has been built from scratch, and it is now set to admit pupils; I congratulate Ogbekpen, and I am proud of Ikpoba-Okha as this is a huge complimentary effort of the Gov. Godwin Obaseki-led administration”
Urging members of the community to see themselves as stewards in the maintenance and protection of the facility, the Council Boss who was welcomed with a resounding ovation said “this is one of my major projects; it gladens my heart to see youths, women and elders of Ogbekpen beautifully seated at this opening; you must see yourselves at custodians of this project for the good of our children”
Assuring the community of speedy take-off of the school, Osayande remarked “I have communicated the Chairman of SUBEB; and I am informed that teachers are already drafted to this school and they are due to resume this September”
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Odionwere of Ogbekpen, Pa Godwin Omoregie in jubilant mood noted “my community and I are are extremely grateful for Osayande’s style of administration; this is a great monument he has erected in Ogbekpen; we have yearned for a primary school in Ogbekpen for over fifty (50) years, and a school has surfaced in Osayande’s time”
Ogbekpen Primary School is one of the four (4) schools built by the Osayande-led administration in the 2018 fiscal year; others are Ikpoba Primary School Ward 1, Avbiama Primary School Ward 5 and Obazagbon Primary School Ward 8
Meanwhile, in the 2019 fiscal year, the building and revamp of Iwogban Primary School Ward 1 and Oguola Secondary School Ward 5, being parts of the capital projects this year, has long commenced respectively
Joining the Council Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayanse and the Edo State Education Commissioner Barr. Jimoh Ijegbai were the Secretary to the Local Government, Barr. Osagie Igbinomwanhia, Director of Administrative and General Services, Mr. Frank Osa-Idahosa and other top government functionaries
